When you register a domain name, you are obliged to give a genuine home address, email and telephone in accordance with the policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This information, however, is not kept only by the registrar company, but is visible to the general public on WHOIS websites as well, so anybody can check your info and certain people may not be happy with this. Consequently, many domain registrars have introduced the so-called ID Protection service, which hides the domain registrant’s contact details and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will see the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner. This service is also known as WHOIS Protection or Privacy Protection, but all these expressions refer to one and the same service. Today, most of the top-level domain names around the globe allow ID Protection to be activated, but there are still country-specific extensions that don’t support this service.

ID Protection in Website Hosting

If you get a website hosting package from our company, you will be able to activate ID Protection for any of your domain names as long as their extensions support the service. You can register or transfer a domain name and enable ID Protection during the registration process or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is stunningly easy – after you sign in, you’ll have to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domains that you’ve registered with us. For each of them you will see an “ID Protect” button, which will tell you whether the service is activated or not. By clicking it, you can either ID-protect the domain name, or you can disable the service if it is currently activated.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’d like to conceal the contact info for your domain and you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to activate our ID Protection service either during the registration process or at any moment later through our Hepsia Control Panel. This service is optional and can be activated with several mouse clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domains that you’ve registered through our company will be displayed alphabetically. You can activate ID Protection for any of the TLD extensions that support the service by simply clicking on the “ID Protect” sign to the right of each domain. In the exact same way, you can also renew the ID Protection service or remove it – in case you want to transfer a domain to a different domain name registrar and you need the actual email account associated with the domain name to be visible.
